It has been estimated that approximately 6.5% of the adult population of Australia have one or more Personality disorders in their lifetime. Personality disorder is a mental health disorder that impacts on the way you think and feel about yourself and others, causing problems functioning in everyday life. It includes self-image issues, difficulty managing emotions and behaviour, and a pattern of unstable relationships.

A personality disorder is also a condition, where someone’s personality traits – the way they think, feel and behave – can be extreme and challenging, causing them and othersgreat distress.

If you or a family member or friend, is struggling with this condition, there is help. The Mental Health Foundation of Australia provides a free support group for adults, family or friends.

This support group aims to provide attendees with a safe space to share their stories, concerns and challenges. It will also allow for discussion about strategies for self-care and developing/maintaining healthy relationships.
