Support Group for Relationship Trauma

Support Group for Relationship Trauma

Support Group for Relationship Trauma will be run by the Facilitator - Eleanor Brysha

Description:  Humans are social creatures that cannot survive without the pack. Throughout our lives we will find ourselves in relationship with family, friends, bosses, co-workers and intimate partners, to mention a few.

Some relationships may be nurturing and positive, while others feel negative and harmful.

Distressing interactions in our relationships can result in trauma and affect our sense of self. We can be left with upsetting memories, emotions and anxiety long after the event.

Attending a support group and creating positive connections can be a good step in the healing process.

In particular, this support group may appeal to:

- people who are experiencing current relationship difficulties

- people who feel traumatized by past relationships

- people in caring roles who put the needs of others above their own

- people with specific conditions (e.g., BPD)

- people who have experienced psychological abuse

- people who are feel very affected by the wants/needs/moods of others on a daily basis

This support group aims to provide attendees with a safe space to share their stories, concerns and challenges. It will also allow for discussion about strategies for self-care and developing/maintaining healthy relationships.
