One of the most unrecognised factors in the development of mental health is the role of nutrition. Food fuels both body and mind. Just as our food choices affect our mental & physical wellness, similarly – we’re more likely to follow a healthy diet when we’re in a good headspace. 

In line with the National Mental Health Month's theme this year on 'Mental Health: Post Pandemic Recovery Challenges and Resilience', we would like to continue this discussion, and we would love your participation.

Professor Felice Jacka    Director of the Food and Mood Centre at Deakin University

Professor Jacka is Director of the Food and Mood Centre and founder and president of the International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research (ISNPR). She has been responsible for the development of a highly innovative field of research establishing diet and nutrition as of importance to common mental disorders. Professor Jacka’s current research focuses closely on the links between diet, gut health, and mental and brain health. This work is being carried out with the ultimate goal of developing new, evidence-based prevention and treatment strategies for mental disorders.





Nicci Tepper   MindStep Coaching Service Manager Independent and Assisted Living at Australian Unity

Nicci manages the MindStep and Healing Minds services at Remedy Healthcare, working with a team of mental health coaches who provide telephone-based low intensity cognitive Behavioural therapy to people with anxiety and depression symptoms. Previously, as an accredited practicing dietitian, Nicci worked with people with chronic physical health conditions coaching them towards sustainable lifestyle modifications. Nicci is passionate about empowering people to improve their physical and mental health both in the present and into the future.












Janet Lowndes      Director and Principal Psychologist at Mind Body Well

Janet Lowndes is a therapist with over 25 years of experience providing counselling, training, and consultation. Her professional practice includes psychological counselling, meditation training, and yoga therapy. Janet has a long history of working independently and in a variety of organisations in the mental health field. She formed Mind Body Well in 2012, as Director and Principal Psychologist. Janet’s professional practice is focused on working with people addressing aspects of their lives affecting health and wellbeing. This includes eating disorders, body image concerns, depression and anxiety.












Flic Manning      Inspirational Conference Speaker

Flic Manning is a dynamic personality and highly-sought-after consultant in business and professional circles. She worked for business legends such as Gary Vaynerchuk and Lesley Gold in San Francisco USA, while becoming a qualified Wellness Expert. Flic founded Corethentic, a complete wellness system and became an Ambassador for Crohn’s & Colitis Australia, Mental Health Foundation of Australia and FitRec DNA.
