The MHFA’s Annual 38th Online National Consumers Art Competition is open to all mental health consumers as well as individuals passionate about mental health advocacy through creative expression in Australia. Enter the competition with your original artwork/s showcasing hopeful representation of the theme 'Where Lived Experience Becomes a Masterpiece"

This is an ONLINE ONLY competition. Please ensure to upload clear photographs of your artwork(s) in this online submission form.
This year’s theme, Where Lived Experience Becomes a Masterpiece, calls on artists to express mental health through an empathetic and hopeful lens. We’re looking for pieces that reflect resilience, hope, and positivity.
Entry Fee & Specifications
The entry is free. Max 2 artwork entries allowed per person.
Online-Only Submission: This is an online-only competition. All entries must be submitted digitally through our official website.
No Physical Artwork Required: Submissions should be high-resolution images of your artwork (in PNG, JPEG, or PDF format). Physical artwork will not be accepted or required.
File Labelling: The submission file name should follow the format: Artwork Title - Artist Name.
Note:
Artworks that are AI-generated, inauthentic or fraudulent replications of other artists' creations, and/or depict inappropriate graphic/violent themes will be strictly eliminated.
Key Dates
- Submissions open: Friday, 1st August 2025
- Submissions close: Sunday, 31st August 2025
- Online Public Voting: 5th September to 12th September
- Award Presentation: Saturday, 4th October 2025
Judging and Selection
- The judging panel consists of Jim Goodin, Anudeepa Kadiresan, and Gabriela Alexandra.
- Artworks will be evaluated based on originality, adherence to the theme, and the overall message conveyed about mental health.
- The top 30 artworks will be chosen via public voting, followed by a panel of judges selecting the final 3 winners.
Winning Prizes
- 1st Place: $500 cash prize
- 2nd Place: $250 cash prize
- 3rd Place: $100 cash prize
Exhibition and Awards
The winning artist will be awarded at the Official Launch of National Multicultural Mental Health Month on Saturday 4th October 2025 at the AICCT Hall, 16-18 Kingsley Close, Rowville VIC 3178. Ticket bookings and further details will be announced on our website shortly.
All competition entrants, their family members, friends are encouraged to attend the Launch. Further details about the Launch and ticket bookings will be provided to the winning artists. Artists wishing to attend the Launch will be able to purchase tickets at a discounted price.
